The expeirment is how does AI change our systems of work. This is where I publish long shares and notes on what it's actually like to run a one-person agentic business.
Right now, that business publishes Digitising Events, the main site covering the impact of AI on small and medium enterprises, with a particular focus on my own domain: media and events, especially B2B events. For now.
The experiment's constraint is that it's genuinely one person. Everything, right now, is done by me. That might sound a bit mad, but here's why I think it matters, at least for now: it's only by keeping that constraint that I'm forced to rethink how work actually gets done, to re-examine workflows, and to work out what belongs in an agentic world and what doesn't. Plus useful agents can be shared with you.
I wrote about this on the main site and called it 'exploding how we work'. After an 18-month sabbatical spent properly understanding this technology, layered on top of twenty-plus years of adopting new technology as it arrives, I've come to a firm conclusion: to get real utility out of AI, not just generative AI but every flavour of it, you have to completely reimagine the workflow. That's the second reason this experiment exists. I invite you to feed into it.
You can't tinker and experiment to the degree I do here inside a live business with real customers, real expectations and real people. No one is going to say 'come and try this on my business, I know you haven't fully proven it, but it sounds about right'. That's a painful way to find out you're right, or wrong.

So on this site I'm free to experiment and share what works and what doesn't. I believe that has value for other businesses, because it shows what's worth adopting, proven to move things that matter in a business context, whether that's customer acquisition or whatever I judge important for that particular experiment.
My other aim is to make as much of this freely available as I can. The only cost is your email address, because there's a newsletter on the radar too. Don't worry, it won't look like the ones you've seen before: properly personalised, just for you.
I hope you enjoy the content. Some of it will just be a rant, born out of frustration, or an observation on the nonsense currently coming from people who claim to be experts in all of this (which, to be fair, has always been the case).
Thanks for checking out Behind the Scenes. Do have a look at the main site too, and I'll keep this page updated. Even though I've only just started publishing, looking back at the notes from earlier in the experiment, this section is going to change fast.
That's the other nice thing about an agentic workflow: I'm literally doing it right now. I dictate the changes and they land on this page. Not bad.
